Prevention Summit Slideshow

The Prevention Policy Summit, held on May 13, 2008, gathered together Washington state people who have a stake in mental health policy. Relive the day with us by viewing this collection of photos that we gathered from the event.

Reviewing the day's agenda.

Representatives of the youth in transition age group are ready to go.

Facilitator Paul Dziedzic outlines the day's process and answers questions.

Mental Health Transformation Project Director Ken Stark introduces keynote speaker Kathryn Power of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Time to address the policy issues of a public health approach to mental health.

Each table of eight included at least one representative from each of the five age groups, exchanging views and discussing priorities in directed exercises.

Listening to the concerns of each group helps prepare participants for the series of votes later in the day.

Facilitators circulate among the tables to answer questions and address concerns.

Participants are energized as the room fills with the sounds of engaged, impassioned conversation.

Many participants said that the exchanges of views across the age groups were among the most significant experiences of the day.

Time to vote with the hand-held wireless polling devices.

Even as voting continues, so do the conversations about prevention issues related to mental health.

Results from each round of voting are immediately visible to all participants.
