Document Format Types

Many pages on this site link to documents that can be downloaded. Typically, these may include Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.

If you do not have these Microsoft programs on your computer you may download a free special "viewer" from Microsoft that will allow you to view these documents.

The free Adobe Reader software will allow you to read documents saved as Adobe PDFs. If you don't already have Adobe Reader on your computer, you can download the latest free version from the Adobe website. Font Type

The default font, or typeface, used on this site is Verdana, a san-serif font. Most people find this style of font easier to read on a computer screen. Some people prefer a more traditional type wich uses a serif font, such as Georgia or Times New Roman. When you print any webpage on this site, it will be printed using a serif-font.

Font Size

This site has been specially coded in such a way to allow users to increase or decrease the size of the font.

If You Are Using Internet Explorer - from the browser menu select View > Text Size. The default font size is "medium", but you can select one of five font sizes from "smallest" to "largest."

If You Are Using Firefox or Netscape - from the browser menu select View > Text Size. You can then increase or decrease the size of the font as needed.

Images

All content images used in this site include alternative text description attributes where applicable. Purely decorative graphics use empty alternative text description attributes. The site is completely accessible with images disabled.

Javascript

There are no javascript-driven menus. Any page that has functionality that is accomplished with javascript also provides a non-javascript solution. Links can be followed in any browser, even if javascript is turned off. There are no links that open new windows without warning.

Navigation Aids

This site uses global and local navigation aids. The top of each page contains a primary navigation menu with links to the main sections of this site. Where applicable, each section accessed through the primary navigation menu has its own local navigation menu which appears in the left-hand side of each page. Every page local to this site begins the content section with a level 1 heading, so it's possible to skip directly to the start of page content by using level 1 heading navigation. Lastly, each page contains an additional navigation menu that appears on the bottom of each page.

Visual Design

Cascading Style Sheets have been used to control the presentation of pages and properly structured markup has been use for content. If style sheets are not supported or are turned off, information on the site can still be accessed and read. Content and navigation are clearly organized using structured semantic markup and consistent navigation labels.
